Frequently Asked Questions
About Trey Stone
Trey is an English word derived from the Old French treis, meaning three. It remains commonly used in basketball for a three-point shot and in card games for a three. Trey is also widely used as a nickname for someone who is the third person in a family to share the same name.
In 1967, Jimi Hendrix released “Third Stone from the Sun,” a largely instrumental composition framed around an alien observing Earth from space, on his debut album, Are You Experienced.
Trey Stone carries that idea forward as another name for Earth—our home, the Third Stone from the Sun.
Every Trey Stone watch is manufactured in Switzerland by experienced Swiss production partners. We have made a long-term commitment that every Trey Stone watch—both now and in the future—will be Swiss made.
Our watches meet or exceed the requirements of Swiss Ordinance 232.119 and may carry the Swiss Made designation. This includes the use of a Swiss movement, technical development in Switzerland, final casing and inspection in Switzerland, and at least 60% of manufacturing costs being incurred there.
We work with established Swiss component manufacturers and assembly specialists whose expertise also supports internationally recognized watch brands at significantly higher price points. By selling directly to our customers, Trey Stone is able to offer access to this level of Swiss manufacturing while maintaining fair pricing.
For a more detailed explanation of our manufacturing process and the requirements behind the Swiss Made designation, see the Swiss Manufacturing section of our About Us page.
Yes. A bespoke watch typically takes about a year to progress from an initial design on paper to a finished product ready for sale. We are currently developing our next two models.
The first will be Flow, a refined everyday watch designed for life in and around the water. Blending the capability and durability of a dive watch with a more polished profile, Flow brings the spirit of a diver into a form suited to a wide range of settings

No. Trey Stone watches are sold exclusively through the official Trey Stone website. Selling directly allows us to maximize the total amount we are able to give to our selected charities, maintain fair pricing for our customers, and protect the quality of the customer experience.
Each Trey Stone watch includes the watch itself, your choice of a metal bracelet or black or brown leather strap, a leather travel wallet, individual testing results, and warranty information.
It also comes with the knowledge that your purchase supports a worthy cause—and perhaps a better explanation for your spouse when you mention that your purchase helped plant trees, improve food production in Africa, protect the rainforest, fund breast cancer research, or another charity you selected.
The decision to deliver each Trey Stone watch in a reusable leather travel wallet reflects our commitment to minimizing our environmental impact. Rather than using a traditional presentation box that may be difficult or impossible to recycle, and is typically used only once before being stored or discarded, we chose packaging designed to be reusable or recyclable.
The wallet protects your watch during delivery and remains useful for storage and travel long after your purchase. Every element of our packaging is designed to reduce unnecessary waste.
For more about our approach to responsible materials and packaging, see the Sustainability & Responsibility section of our About Us page.
Trey Stone donates 10% of its net profits to a group of carefully selected charitable organizations. Net profit is calculated after the costs of producing and selling our products and the necessary expenses required to operate and grow the company, including packaging, shipping, marketing, and the development of future products.
Charitable contributions are calculated quarterly. Each customer selects a charity when purchasing a watch, and the total contribution for that quarter is distributed proportionally among the eligible charities based on the percentage of customer selections each receives.
This approach allows every purchase to help determine where Trey Stone’s charitable giving is directed while ensuring that the company can continue developing, producing and supporting high-quality watches for years to come.
Yes. When purchasing a watch, you may choose from the eligible charities selected by Trey Stone. We do not currently accept requests to make individual contributions to organizations outside this list.
Each charity is evaluated using independent information from Charity Navigator and selected for its impact, effectiveness, and alignment with our commitment to supporting globally meaningful causes. Our participating charities are also nonpolitical and nonreligious, reflecting the diversity of our international community.
In the future, Trey Stone may introduce special releases that support additional organizations or direct the associated charitable contribution to a specific cause.
About the Watch
Yes. Every Trey Stone watch has a unique serial number engraved on the caseback. The serial number is linked to company records identifying the watch’s model, configuration, movement, and production details.
Yes, subject to availability. If you would like a particular serial number, please email support@treystonewatches.com with your preferred number and, if possible, one or two alternatives.
We will do our best to accommodate your request, but specific serial numbers cannot be guaranteed.
The dial’s sunray finish is created through fine radial patterns that interact with light as the watch moves. Changes in viewing angle, light source and surrounding colors can therefore make the dial appear lighter, darker, warmer or more vivid.
Additional surface treatments and the metallic dial beneath them also influence how the color is perceived. On lighter dials, this can create subtle shifts from bright white to warmer cream or pale-gold tones. These variations are an intentional part of the dial’s character rather than a change in its actual color.
The apparent brightness of Swiss Super-LumiNova® varies depending on the infill and luminescence colors. Lighter infill colors allow more of the emitted light to remain visible, generally producing a brighter glow. Darker pigments absorb or filter more of that light and therefore produce significantly lower visible luminescence.
RC Tritec AG, the manufacturer of Swiss Super-LumiNova®, worked with Trey Stone to develop several of the infill and luminescence color combinations used in the Experience collection.
A photograph showing the watch’s dimensions is provided near the bottom of the Experience model page and each individual colorway page.
Additional measurements and technical details can also be found in the Specifications section of each colorway page.
Yes. At 10.6 mm thick, the watch is designed to fit comfortably beneath most shirt cuffs. Only the closest-fitting dress shirt cuffs may provide insufficient clearance.
Mechanical watches naturally gain or lose a small amount of time each day. Each Trey Stone watch is regulated and tested in multiple positions, with a target average rate of approximately 0 to +14 seconds per day.
Actual performance may vary depending on wearing habits, position, temperature, activity level, and the watch’s state of wind. Each watch is delivered with written confirmation that it has passed Trey Stone’s required testing and quality-control standards.
A mechanical watch may gain or lose a small amount of time each day, and its performance can vary with position, activity level, temperature, magnetism, and state of wind.
If your watch has stopped after approximately 38 to 41 hours of inactivity, it may simply need to be wound. Gently unscrew the crown, wind the watch manually, set the time, and carefully secure the crown without overtightening it.
If the watch continues to run noticeably fast or slow, stops while being worn, or does not restart after winding, please contact Trey Stone Support before attempting any adjustment or repair. Do not force the crown or open the case.
For complete winding, setting, care, and service instructions, see our Care and Service page.
Movement, Service, and Ownership
Every Trey Stone timepiece is covered by a two-year international limited warranty. Leather straps and metal bracelets are covered for one year. Coverage begins on the date your order is shipped.
For complete details about coverage, exclusions, and how to request warranty service, please see our Warranty page.
The Trey Stone International Limited Warranty covers defects in materials and workmanship that arise under normal use during the applicable warranty period. This may include manufacturing-related issues affecting the movement, case, crystal, crown, dial, hands, or other internal components.
The warranty does not cover normal wear and cosmetic aging, accidental damage, misuse, impact, exposure to strong magnetic fields, water damage caused by improper use, or damage resulting from unauthorized service, modification, or repair. Straps and bracelets are covered for manufacturing defects, but not for ordinary wear or signs of use.
For complete coverage terms, exclusions, and instructions for requesting service, please see our Warranty page.
Yes. The Trey Stone International Limited Warranty follows the watch and may be transferred to a subsequent owner for the remainder of the original warranty period.
Proof of the original purchase may be required when requesting warranty service. For complete terms and service instructions, please see our Warranty page.
Contact support@treystonewatches.com with your watch’s serial number, proof of purchase, and a description of the issue. We will review your request and provide return authorization and shipping instructions if inspection is required.
Please do not send your watch without prior authorization. For complete details, see our Warranty page.
We recommend having your mechanical watch professionally serviced approximately every five to seven years, depending on use and operating conditions. Earlier service may be appropriate if the watch becomes noticeably inaccurate, stops unexpectedly, or shows signs of moisture or damage.
For additional guidance, please see our Care and Service page.
For warranty service, contact support@treystonewatches.com.
After the warranty period, your watch may be serviced by any qualified watchmaker or repair technician trained to work on Swiss mechanical movements. For additional guidance, please see our Care and Service page.
Yes. Trey Stone selects proven Swiss movements designed to be serviced by qualified watchmakers around the world—from Dublin to Darwin.
After the warranty period, the movement may be serviced by an independent watchmaker trained to work on Swiss mechanical movements. During the warranty period, please contact Trey Stone before authorizing any service, as unauthorized repairs may affect warranty coverage.
Yes. The Sellita SW200-1 is based on a proven Swiss movement design with roots extending back more than 50 years. The movement has been continuously refined over that time and has been used in hundreds of thousands of watches worldwide.
Its widespread use means qualified watchmakers around the world are familiar with its construction, and replacement parts are readily available through established watchmaking supply networks. The parts, tools, and technical knowledge required to service this movement are considered standard resources for professionals who work on Swiss mechanical watches.
This worldwide serviceability was an important consideration when selecting the movement for the Experience collection.
Operation and Care
If the watch has stopped, gently unscrew the crown by turning it counterclockwise until it releases and can turn freely. Then turn the crown clockwise several times to begin winding the movement. Continue until the watch starts, then set the time as needed.
When finished, press the crown inward and screw it back into the case gently, ensuring it is properly aligned. Do not force the crown, continue winding if you feel unusual resistance, or overtighten it when securing it.
For complete winding, setting, and crown-care instructions, please see our Care and Service page.
Gently unscrew the crown by turning it counterclockwise until it releases and turns freely. Carefully pull the crown outward to the time-setting position, then rotate it until the hands display the correct time.
When finished, press the crown inward and gently turn it clockwise to secure it against the case. Ensure the crown is properly aligned, and do not force or overtighten it.
For complete setting and crown-care instructions, please see our Care and Service page.
A water-resistance rating of 100 meters indicates that the watch has been pressure-tested under controlled conditions and is suitable for everyday exposure to water, swimming, and recreational surface-water activities.
The rating does not represent a recommended diving depth. Water resistance also depends on the crown being fully secured and the seals remaining in good condition. Do not operate the crown while the watch is wet or submerged, and avoid exposing it to hot water, steam, soaps, or chemicals.
For complete guidance, please see our Care and Service page.
Yes. With its 100-meter water-resistance rating, the watch is suitable for swimming and recreational surface-water activities, provided the crown is fully secured.
Leather straps should not be worn while swimming or participating in water activities. Use a metal bracelet or another water-resistant strap instead.
After exposure to salt water or chlorinated water, rinse the watch with fresh water and allow it to dry completely. Do not operate the crown while the watch is wet or submerged, and avoid hot water, steam, soaps, and chemicals. For complete guidance, please see our Care and Service page.
